Understand Why This Obligation Exists

Civil servants must avoid placing themselves in a position where their private financial interests conflict — or could appear to conflict — with their official duties. The duty to declare is not optional: it is a binding obligation under both the General Orders and the Code of Conduct. This applies to investments, shareholdings, directorships, partnerships, significant land holdings, and any other financial interest that could influence your official decisions.
