Salary & Allowances

The General Orders establish the salary and allowance framework across several chapters. GO 02117 — the incremental date is the effective date of appointment or promotion. GO 02118 — with PSC approval, an outstanding officer may receive more than one increment in a year. GO 02119 — longevity increments of 10% of basic salary (pensionable) for officers stagnating at scale top: first after 2 years, then every 5 years. GO 02120 — increments are paid automatically by the Treasury unless deferment notification is received. GO 02121 — upon promotion, salary is set at either the new scale minimum (if previous salary was lower) or the next incremental point above previous salary (if equal or higher). GO 02205 — acting allowance equals the difference between the officer's basic salary and the minimum of the higher office, payable for periods of one month or more. GO 02206 — where no suitable officer is available for acting appointment, a charge allowance (percentage of duties carried out) may be granted. Chapter 7 covers miscellaneous allowances: GO 07101 — Regional Governors receive a monthly duty allowance; GO 07102 — Ministry of Health officers at the TB Sanatorium on patient-contact duties receive a prescribed monthly allowance; GO 07103 — officers dying from air travel injuries or duty injuries receive compensation under the Pensions Act plus any additional Government-determined amount.
